What started as a small toolbelt, designed to carry a grumpy bicycle mechanic’s tools became a journey I was not expecting. It’s been almost 10 years of trying to learn the facets of sewing, bag making, material exploration, pattern making, machinery, etc. In some ways I feel like I’ve come a long way, in others I feel like I’ve just scratched the surface. I’ve been called a lot of different things over the years - “maker”, “entrepreneur”, “artist” (my favorite), “seller” (my least favorite), “designer”, “craftsman”, etc. None of them feel right, and it’s been a pretty big struggle to try to define what this is and why I’m doing it. And an even bigger one to try and sell it! In the end maybe before one can be any of those things, one must first be made. Maybe that’s what I was after all along.
